For the second straight year, ESPN's Rece Davis will serve as emcee for the Honors Dinner January 9 during the NCAA Convention in Dallas.

Davis is only the third individual to serve as master of ceremonies at more than one Honors Dinner and he is the first to serve as emcee in consecutive years. ABC's Keith Jackson was master of ceremonies three times (1972, 1976 and 1988) and Howard K. Smith, also of ABC, was the master of ceremonies in 1968 and 1981.

Davis currently works as a college basketball and college football studio host and is a frequent SportsCenter anchor/reporter for ESPN and ESPN2. He also is host of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship.

Davis has served as host of ESPN and ESPN's College Gameday Final since August 1999. In addition, he hosts College Gamenight, ESPN's daily college basketball news and highlights program, as well as Baseball Tonight.

Davis joined the sports network in March 1995 as an ESPN2 SportSmash anchor, providing five-minute news and score reports throughout the network's nightly programming. He previously hosted ESPN2's weekend RPM 2Night and Sunday RPM 2Day programs from 1997 to 1999. In addition, he was host for NBA 2Night, ESPN's daily NBA highlights and news program, from 1996 to 1997.

Davis has delivered "Extra Point" commentaries on ESPN Radio and has been a guest host for the Dan Patrick Show.

Before coming to ESPN, Davis worked at WJRT-TV in Flint, Michigan, as a sports anchor/reporter from 1993 to 1995. Before that, he was a sports anchor and sports director at WRBL-TV in Columbus, Georgia, from 1988 to 1993, and a general assignment reporter for WCFT-TV in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, from 1987 to 1988. In addition, Davis worked as a freelance television play-by-play announcer, studio host and radio announcer in select media outlets in Alabama from 1983 to 1993.

Davis graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, in 1988 with a bachelor of arts degree in broadcast news and public affairs.
