The NCAA has developed a new online system to make the committee nomination process faster and easier for members to use. The change is another example of the Association using technological advances to facilitate membership service.

In addition to providing for trouble-free submission of the application, the new system also allows members to view current nominees and see who's on the committees they may be interested in joining. It also makes the process simpler by allowing the nominator to e-mail the form to the nominee to complete.

"We hope that this system makes it much easier for the membership to go online and submit the nominations," said Sharon Tufano, NCAA committee coordinator. "This has been something that members have been asking for, and something that we feel will make it much easier for them and also give them the ability to monitor the progress of their nomination."

Bob Williams, chair of the Division III Nominating Committee and faculty athletics representative at Swarthmore College, had a chance to see the new system at a recent meeting and gave it high marks.

"The committee was very much impressed with how it will bring our nominating process up to date in terms of the use of current technology," he said. "It's something that the committee has been recommending right along, that we try to make our nominating process more user friendly and easier for our membership to plug into. It will handle self-nominations, as well as individuals being nominated by someone else. It even will cover the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee so it will be open for our students to use."

The nomination forms can be accessed through: web1.ncaa.org/committees/selection.jsp. It also is accessible from the Committee Administration page of www.ncaa.org.

The site requires a user name and password to access the three divisions. That information will be sent to conferences or members via e-mail.

The NCAA recommends that users have Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape 6.0 to view the information.

For more information on the online nomination process, or to obtain a user name and password, contact Sharon Tufano at 317/917-6939 or stufano@ncaa.org.
