The Division III Women's Golf Committee formulated a recommendation for bracket expansion during its annual meeting July 14-17 in San Francisco.

To accommodate rising sponsorship numbers and to maintain the Division III philosophy of increasing opportunities, the committee is recommending an increase in the championships field to 13 teams and 13 individuals. This proposal also will create a more level playing field with the Division III men's championships. If the Division III Championships Committee approves the proposal in September, the format of the championships will remain the same.

In other action, the committee recommended shifting the Ohio Conference to Region 2 to align more with Midwest institutions. Currently, the Ohio Conference is a member of Region 1, which encompasses institutions from the South, East and New England.

The group also discussed the possibility of using a leader board at the championships to reduce the number of volunteers needed and to increase the ease of score posting. The leader board will automatically update live stats for spectators and participants. The committee will work with Golfstat during upcoming contract negotiations to obtain leader boards.

The 2004 championship will be at the Lawsonia Golf Course in Greenlake, Wisconsin. Methodist College will host the 2005 championships. Institutions interested in hosting the 2006 and 2007 championships should contact Jaqie McWilliams at the national office for more information.
