Bernard Manirakiza's two individual wins sparked Abilene Christian to its second consecutive Division II Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships team title May 22-24 at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.

The championship repeat comes on the heels of the Wildcats winning their second straight Division II indoor track and field crown in March. It is their 13th outdoor team championship, tops in Division II history.

Manirakiza captured the 800- and 1,500-meter runs to account for 20 of the Wildcats' 102 points. St. Augustine's was second with 69 points and Western State was third with 64, as the top three teams finished in the same order as in 2002.

Ben Washington won the triple jump for Abilene Christian, and teammate Yevgen Pashchenko placed second. Nic Alexander was the Wildcats' top sprinter with a second-place performance in the 100-meter dash and a fourth-place effort in the 200-meter dash.

Abilene Christian's Tarrant Fuller was the runner-up in the long jump.

Adrian Findlay claimed St. Augustine's lone individual title with his second consecutive victory in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles. The Falcons also won the 400- and 1,600-meter relays, earning their fourth straight triumph in the longer event.

Wilan Louis was on both relay units and contributed six points to St. Augustine's total after placing third in the 400-meter dash.

Phillip McPherson (3,000-meter steeplechase), Scott Nagelkerke (5,000-meter run) and Josh Eberly (10,000-meter run) all posted wins for Western State. Eberly also placed second behind Nagelkerke.

Olan Coleman of Tarleton State joined Manirakiza as a double winner by sprinting to first place in the 100 and 200.

Duane Chappell of Lewis and Clint Prange of Northwest Missouri State also won events for the second year in a row. Chappell catapulted to first place in the pole vault and Prange took the top spot in the discus throw.
