Miscellaneous: Fifty-four student-athletes from Division II institutions have been selected to receive degree-completion awards by the Division II Degree-Completion Award Committee. The awards go to student-athletes who are near the requirements to graduate but whose athletics eligibility has expired.

The selections for the 2003-04 academic year are:

Facilities: The University of North Dakota has begun work on a basketball/volleyball facility addition to the Ralph Engelstad Arena complex. The 50,000 square-foot building will be named the Ralph Engelstad Arena Sports Center and will be home to the North Dakota men's and women's basketball teams and the North Dakota women's volleyball team. For basketball, the new structure primarily will serve as a practice facility. Beginning with the 2004-05 season, the teams will play most of their games in the $104 million main arena. The new structure will serve as both the home court and practice facility for the women's volleyball team. Total cost for the project is estimated at $7 million. Work began in June; occupancy is scheduled for September 2004.

Sports sponsorship: The University of Missouri, Rolla, announced the elimination of men's golf and men's tennis, effective immediately.
