Milestones: Bryant College women's volleyball coach Theresa Garlacy posted her 200th win September 19. Her career winning percentage of .695 ranks among the top 20 for active Division II coaches ... Northwest Missouri State University football coach Mel Tjeerdsma recently reached a milestone and a school record. In a 60-22 win over the University of Missouri, Rolla, September 27, he picked up career victory No. 150. The next week, he became the all-time leader in coaching victories at Northwest Missouri with a 45-14 win over Washburn University of Topeka. Tjeerdsma is in his 10th season with the Bearcats.

Miscellaneous: A capacity crowd of more than 1,000 was present September 18 to dedicate the new, state-of-the-art Roberto Hernandez Stadium at the University of South Carolina at Aiken. The facility was made possible by a $1 million gift from Hernandez, a former South Carolina-Aiken pitcher who now performs for the Atlanta Braves. Speakers included South Carolina-Aiken Chancellor Thomas Hallman, Athletics Director Randy Warrick and Hernandez himself, who threw out a ceremonial first pitch ... St. Cloud State University women's softball coach Paula U'Ren has been named the recipient of the 2003 Ole Odney Award, presented each year by Augustana College (South Dakota) for outstanding achievement in coaching by an Augustana graduate. U'Ren, who graduated from Augustana in 1995, was a three-time all-North Central Conference selection. She has been the head softball coach at St. Cloud State for the past six seasons, posting a 254-82 record. Her winning percentage of .756 ranks 10th among active Division II coaches.
