Acting for the Division I Management Council, the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet Subcommittee on Legislative Review/
Interpretations issued the following interpretations:

Recruiting/Recruiting Materials

1. Attachments to General Correspondence and E-mail. It is permissible for an institution to attach information to general correspondence, provided the attachment is printed on plain white paper with black ink. Further, it is permissible for an institution to attach information to e-mail correspondence that may include color, provided the attachment does not include any animation, audio/video clips and there is no cost (for example, subscription fee) associated with sending the item attached to the e-mail correspondence. Recruiting/Summer-Camp Advertisement

2. Summer Camp Advertisement -- Nonscholastic Competition Program. It is not permissible for an institution to place camp or clinic advertisements in a publication related to any competition in which prospective student-athletes are participants (for example, nonscholastic competition program). Promotional Activities/Commercial Advertisement

Commercial Advertisement on a Schedule Card. It is not permissible for a commercial company's advertisement (other than the commercial company's officially registered regular trademark or logo) to appear on the same side of an unfolded multi-panel schedule card that also includes the name or picture of a student-athlete with remaining eligibility. Recruiting/Certified Events

Basketball Coaches Attendance at Team Practices in Preparation for a Certified Event. In men's and women's basketball, it is permissible for coaches to attend organized team practices in preparation for a certified event only if such practice time has been designated by the organizer as part of the event.
