Arkansas' performance at the Division I Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships left little doubt about the state of the Razorbacks' track dynasty.

Arkansas had not won an indoor or outdoor title since 2000, yet the Razorbacks had finished no worse than seventh in the last five national meets and had accumulated 25 team trophies since 1984. Thanks to a command performance from its distance runners, the Razorbacks once again rose to the top spot, winning the 2003 indoor team championship at home March 14-15.

"Our drought without a title was too long and now it's over," said Arkansas head coach John McDonnell. "I'm just overjoyed with this team. After two years without a championship, this is great. We are back where we like to be. After not winning, you think you are losing your magic."

Alistair Cragg gave proof that McDonnell's coaching ability was still viable after victories in both the 3,000- and 5,000-meter runs. "I just did what Coach Mac told me to and it worked," Cragg said after the 3,000 on the meet's second day. "I felt fresh out there, like it was my first race."

Cragg set a meet record in the 5,000, covering the distance in 13 minutes, 28.93 seconds. It was his second straight win in the event.

Chris Mulvaney added a third Razorback win in the distance events by capturing the mile run. Daniel Lincoln contributed to the championship effort by finishing third in the 3,000 and sixth in the 5,000.

Arkansas compiled 52 points in claiming its 17th Division I indoor title. Auburn was a distant second with 28 points, and Nebraska was third with 26.Auburn received second-place finishes from Shamar Sands in the 60-meter high hurdles and Fred Sharpe in the 800-meter run. Nebraska's Carl Myerscough won the shot put for the second consecutive year, this time with a meet record throw of 70 feet, 6 1/4 inches.
