Dates and sites: National qualifying will be at Temple April 11, and the national championships will follow April 12-13.

Field: A national qualifier will consist of the top 10 teams; conference champions from the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference and the Big Ten Conference; the top 12 all-around competitors who are not members of a selected team; and 12 individuals per event. The top three teams, and the top three all-around competitors not on a team selected and three individual event competitors will advance to the national championship.

Selection date: April 1.

2002 team champion: Oklahoma.

Top team contenders: Oklahoma, Penn State, Iowa, Minnesota, William & Mary.

Top individual contenders: Daniel Furney, Oklahoma; Luis Vargas and Kevin Donohue, Penn State; Clay Strother, Minnesota.

In the same year that Minnesota marks its 100th anniversary of men's gymnastics at the university, the team is competing in what could be its last season as a varsity sport, pending a review being conducted by the institution.
