Division I

Dates and site: Indiana and USRowing will host the championships May 30-June 1 at the Eagle Creek Reservoir in Indianapolis.

Field: The Division I Women's Rowing Committee will select 12 teams, including one from each region. Each team will be required to field two boats of eight rowers each and one boat of four rowers. In addition, four eight-women boats from institutions not represented in the team competition will be selected. There will be no fours selected on an at-large basis. Individual rowers are not permitted to double at championships. The championship provides for three events (I Eights, II Eights and Fours), each covering a 2,000-meter course.

Selection date: May 20.

2002 team champion: Brown.

Top team contenders: Washington, Princeton, Stanford, California, Michigan, Brown.

Division II

Dates and site: Indiana and USRowing will host the championships May 30-June 1 at the Eagle Creek Reservoir in Indianapolis.

Field: The Division II Women's Rowing Committee will select four teams, one from each region and one at large. Each team is required to field one boat of eight rowers and one boat of four with a coxswain. Individual rowers are not permitted to double at the championship. The championship provides for a maximum field of four teams in two events (I Eights, II Eights), each covering a 2,000-meter course. In addition, two at-large Eights will be selected from any region.

Selection date: May 20.

2002 team champion: UC Davis.

Top team contenders: UC Davis, Rollins, Western Washington, UC San Diego, Barry.

Division III

Dates and site: Indiana and USRowing will host the championships May 30-June 1 at the Eagle Creek Reservoir in Indianapolis.

Field: The Division III Women's Rowing Committee will select six teams, one from Pool A (automatic qualifier), and five from Pools B and C. Each team is required to field two boats of eight rowers and a coxswain. The championship provides for one event (I Eights and II Eights together), covering a 2,000-meter course.

Selection date: May 13.

2002 team champion: Williams.

Top team contenders: Williams, Ithaca, Coast Guard, Colby, Smith, William Smith.

This is only the second year for a separate Division II and Division III championship, though the site for all three championships remains the same. UC Davis and Williams will compete for the first consecutive national championships in Division II and Division III, respectively.
