The NCAA national office has announced that Wally Renfro will return to the staff as senior advisor to the president for communications.

In the new role, Renfro will work with the media on issues directly involving new NCAA President Myles Brand. Renfro will draft external communications, including occasional speeches, and will interact with staff leadership on a wide range of issues that involve external communication. Renfro, who had retired in June, rejoined the staff December 30.

Renfro, who celebrated his 30th year of employment with the NCAA in 2002, most recently served as special assistant for presidential transition. Before that, he was NCAA director of public relations.
