Jeanne Boyd, associate commissioner of the Sun Belt Conference, has joined the NCAA staff as director of Division I men's basketball.

Boyd, who had primary responsibility for administration of 18 Sun Belt championships, will assume daily responsibilities as a national office liaison to host institutions and facilities involved in preliminary rounds of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship and the Final Four. She also will oversee game operations and lodging for the championship. She succeeds Sue Donohoe, who recently was named NCAA vice-president for Division I women's basketball.

Boyd's experience includes service as a game management director at the 2003 Final Four and also at NCAA baseball and gymnastics championships. She also has been operations director for the New Orleans Bowl at the Louisiana Superdome.

Before joining the Sun Belt staff in 2000, she served as a health, education and human development instructor at Clemson University and then served from 1997 to 2000 as assistant director of event management at Louisiana State University, where she also served as an adjunct instructor.

Boyd holds a doctorate in education leadership and research from LSU, and she earned bachelor's and master's degrees in health and human performance at the University of Florida, where she first became involved in athletics administration as a student volunteer.
