Charles Barkley, former basketball player/ television personality
Sports Illustrated

"Sports are a detriment to Blacks, not a positive. You have a society now where every black kid in the country thinks the only way he can be successful is through athletics. People look at athletes and entertainers as the sum total of black America. That is a terrible, terrible thing, because that ain't even one-tenth of what we are."

Jim Haney, executive director
National Association of Basketball Coaches
USA Today

"Coaches will ask: Is the event for the fans, or is the event for the players? If it's for the players, then the more neutral the site, the more fair the competition. The more the site tends to move toward a home site, the more difficult it is for a team in a national tournament."
