Wisconsin-Oshkosh won its first team title in 12 years at the Division III Men's Cross Country Championships November 23 at St. Olaf.

The Titans claimed their fourth crown overall and their first since winning three in a row from 1988 to 1990. Wisconsin-Oshkosh finished with 66 team points for a comfortable 56-point margin over Calvin. The Knights placed second for the second consecutive year after winning the 2000 championship.

Wisconsin-Oshkosh was led by David Cisewski in fifth place and Nick Boehlke in the seventh spot. The pair made the Titans the only institution to have two top-10 finishers.

Eamon McKenna was the next Wisconsin-Oshkosh runner to complete the 8,000-meter course, coming in 25th. Phil Keskinen was two places behind McKenna and Pat Seger completed the Titan scorers in 45th place.

Hendrik Kok was Calvin's top runner, finishing ninth. North Central was third in the team scoring, keeping alive its streak of appearing as a team in all 30 Division III championships. The Cardinals have now finished fourth or better in 29 of those 30 appearances.

Ryan Bak of Trinity (Connecticut) became his institution's first individual champion. Bak went in front early in the race and maintained a comfortable lead throughout. His winning time of 25 minutes, 1.1 seconds was a course record and was seven seconds better than the mark of runner-up Ryan Kleimenhagen of Wisconsin-Platteville.

Kleimenhagen was the previous holder of the course record at 25 minutes, 21 seconds, set during the St. Olaf Invitational in September.

Justin Easter of Bates was third in the individual standings, followed by Dan McLean of Puget Sound.
