The Division III Baseball Committee discussed the future site of its championship and formulated ideas regarding bracket expansion at its annual meeting July 22-24 in Monterey, California.

The committee forwarded a site recommendation to the Division III Championships Committee to consider for the 2004-06 finals.

The group also discussed the future of the championship, including possible bracket expansion. With the NCAA's two-year budget cycle, the committee plans to recommend expansion in 2003.

The feasibility of predetermined regional sites also was an agenda item. The committee will continue to evaluate this idea and make a recommendation, if necessary, in 2003.

Pool allocations for the 2003 championship were formulated, and the committee will finalize those allocations via conference call. Specific information regarding the pool allocations will be available after the Championships Committee meeting.

In other items, the committee reviewed the 2002 championship in Appleton, Wisconsin, and noted the site set an attendance record.
