Bailey eclipsed the 650-win mark with a 10-5 victory over Shepherd College April 20. He is in his 25th year as head coach and as of May 10 had an overall career mark of 656-315-2.

Sports sponsorship: The Quincy University football program will move to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, effective the fall of 2003. "We are very thankful to the Great Lakes Valley Conference for giving us a waiver to pursue this avenue," said Athletics Director Patrick Atwell, who noted that the move would provide his institution with opportunities to compete with like teams and reach postseason play in football. Quincy will be an NAIA member in football only.
