Milestones: Gabe Mejail, women's soccer coach at Merrimack College, won the 300th game of his career November 13 when Merrimack defeated The College of St. Rose, 2-0, in the first round of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship. The all-time Division II leader in career victories, Mejail became just the fifth coach in NCAA women's soccer history (all divisions) to reach the 300-win plateau.

Sports sponsorship: St. Andrews Presbyterian College will add women's golf, women's lacrosse and men's tennis to its athletics program in 2003-04. The institution, a member of the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference, will sponsor 15 teams in 2003-04.

Miscellaneous: Ian Smart, a running back for C.W. Post Campus/Long Island University, completed the season as the all-time leader in college football history in scoring (570 points) and touchdowns scored (95). He also rushed for 6,647 yards for his career, fourth on the all-time list and third among Division II runners ... Le Moyne College has announced that it will Webcast 22 home Northeast-10 Conference men's and women's basketball games during the 2002-03 season. A Syracuse-based Internet company, i2sports, will Webcast each game live in near-television quality video on a subscription basis. For a one-time fee of $20, subscribers will be able to log on from anywhere worldwide. Subscribers also will have access to unlimited on-demand access to game archives through the end of the season ... University of the Incarnate Word will broadcast select men's basketball games this year in Spanish. The university, located in San Antonio, believes it is the first Division II institution to air athletics contests in Spanish. Veteran broadcaster Armando Quintero, the Spanish radio voice of the Dallas Cowboys for the last 21 years, will handle the broadcasts. Quintero also did San Antonio Spurs games for six years.
