The Division II Legislation Committee Subcommittee on Interpretations issued the following interpretations:

Women's Basketball Recruiting Calendar -- High-School
Basketball Season

1. The evaluation period outlined in Bylaw 30.11.2-(g) applies to states that conduct the women's high-school basketball season in the fall or spring. [References Bylaw 30.11.2 (basketball, women's).]

Participation in Exempted Contest or Tournament -- Basketball

2. In basketball, an institution is permitted to participate in an exempted contest or tournament (not to exceed four contests) in Hawaii, Alaska or Puerto Rico, more than once in every four years, provided the institution counts the contest(s) in the maximum number of contests. [References: NCAA Bylaws 17.1.9.4 (contests in Hawaii, Alaska or Puerto Rico -- basketball) and 17.5.5 (number of contests).]

Proposal No. 22 -- Effective Date

3. The Interpretations Subcommittee of the Division II Legislation Committee reviewed 2003 Convention Proposal No. 22 and determined that the effective date of August 1, 2003, relates to all certifications occurring after August 1, 2003. (References: 2003 Convention Proposal No. 22.)
