Perry takes women's basketball post

The national office has announced the hiring of Michelle Perry, assistant commissioner for the Mountain West Conference, as director of the Division I Women's Basketball Championship.

Perry will replace Susan Donohoe, who accepted a position as director of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship.

Perry has been with the Mountain West Conference since 1999, where she has been responsible for the primary administration of 16 conference sports, including women's basketball and women's volleyball. She also administered the conference's championship program and served as the primary liaison for the league's officiating programs.

She came to the Mountain West after serving as assistant athletics director, compliance coordinator and senior woman administrator at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she administered seven women's sports and was the institutional liaison to the NCAA, among other duties. Perry began her tenure at Texas-San Antonio in 1993 as director of marketing and promotions.

In addition to serving a stint on the Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet. Perry's other NCAA duties have included being tournament manager for several NCAA championship events, including the 1998 Men's Final Four. She also has served as an on-site coordinator for a Youth Education through Sports (YES) clinic.

Perry obtained her bachelor's degree in business administration from Monmouth College (Illinois).
