Acting for the Division I Management Council, the Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet Subcommittee on Legislative Review/Interpretations issued the following interpretations:

Recruiting/Camp Brochures

1. Camp Brochure Containing Pictures of Student-Athletes. A student-athlete with eligibility remaining who is employed in an institutional or privately owned camp may be identified by name and/or picture in the camp brochure only in a designated camp counselor section. [Reference: NCAA Bylaw 12.5.1.7 (summer camps).]

Proposal No. 01-17

2. Procedures Regarding NCAA Proposal No. 01-17. The following procedures regarding the participation of an institution by conference call in meetings conducted by the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet Subcommittee on Legislative Review/Interpretations are applicable:

a. Access shall be limited to institutional staff members only (as opposed to student-athletes or outside counsel);

b. The institution shall be permitted to participate only when the activity at issue already has occurred and the interpretive decision rendered by the subcommittee could result in an institutional violation or a student-athlete's loss of eligibility; and

c. The institution's participation in the meeting shall be limited to five minutes unless extended by the subcommittee. The institution may participate only via teleconference, and the role of the institution shall be limited to providing information regarding the facts of the case and responding to questions from the subcommittee. The institution shall not be permitted to participate in the subcommittee's deliberations or remain on the conference call during such deliberations.
