DIVISION I

Dates and sites: The East Regional will be played March 23-24 at the Centrum Centre in Worcester, Massachusetts; the West Regional will be played March 22-23 at Yost Arena in Ann Arbor, Michigan; and the Frozen Four will be April 4 and 6 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Field: Twelve teams, five from the automatic-qualifying conferences and the remaining seven selected at large.

Selection date: March 17.

2001 champion: Boston College.

Top team contenders: Denver, New Hampshire, Minnesota, St. Cloud State, Michigan State, Cornell, Colorado College.

Players to watch: Ryan Miller, Michigan State; Darren Haydar, New Hampshire; Mark Hartigan, St. Cloud State; Jordan Leopold, Minnesota; Mike Pandolfo, Boston University; Matt Underhill, Cornell.

DIVISION III

Dates and sites: A first-round game will be held March 6 at a campus site. The quarterfinals will be March 8-9 at campus sites and the semifinals and final will be March 15-16 at a campus site.

Field: Nine teams, six from automatic-qualifying conferences (Pool A), one from independent institutions (Pool B) and two at-large teams that do not qualify through their conference (Pool C).

Selection date: March 3.

2001 champion: Plattsburgh State.

Top team contenders: Rochester Institute of Technology, Middlebury, St. Norbert, Bowdoin, St. Thomas (Minnesota), Norwich.

Players to watch: Mike Bournazakis, Rochester Institute of Technology; Christian Carlsson, Middlebury; Michael Carosi, Bowdoin, J.F. Duchesne, Middlebury; Jerry Galway, Rochester Institute of Technology; Ryan Gill, St. Norbert; Tony Lawrence, St. Thomas (Minnesota); Kurtis Mclean, Norwich.

Rochester Institute of Technology has made 11 appearances in the Division III championship, followed by Plattsburgh State and Babson with 10. Rochester Institute of Technology also leads in tournament wins with 22, folowed by Wisconsin-River Falls with 21 (in eight appearances).
