The following are questions student-athletes can use when "interviewing" a potential agent. Student-athletes should work with their parents, compliance coordinators and coaches to develop additional questions that cater to each student-athlete's individual situation.

1. What is your professional background as an agent?

2. What is your educational background?

3. Did you graduate from law school? If so, from where, and when did you graduate?

4. Have you ever been disbarred, suspended, reprimanded, censured or otherwise disciplined or disqualified as an attorney/agent or by the pertinent players association?

5. Are there currently any complaints or charges pending against you regarding your conduct as an attorney/agent by any bar or players association?

6. Have you ever been investigated or found to have violated any NCAA or players association rules? If so, when, and what were the charges or findings?

7. Are you registered with the NFLPA, NBPA, NHLPA, MLBPA, or other appropriate professional organization?

8. Are you registered by a state licensing agency to recruit athletes in any state?

9. Can you provide me with a projection of my draft status?

10. If I am a free agent, how can you help maximize my chances of making a team?

11. What is your fee structure? Will you accept payment per hour rather than a percentage of my contract?

12. How many clients do you currently have? Can you provide me with a list of those clients?

13. What other types of services (financial planning, tax services, etc.) do you offer to your clients?
