Two veteran staff members have announced their plans to leave the Association.

James A. Marchiony, director of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship, media, and Robin J. Green, Division I assistant chief of staff, will be leaving the staff later this spring. Marchiony will become associate director of athletics at the University of Connecticut, while Green is getting married and returning to the Kansas City area, where the Association previously was headquartered.

Marchiony

Marchiony has been a member of the Division I Men's Basketball Championship staff since September 1997. He oversaw all media coordination and credentialing for the Men's Final Four. He also has been involved in many other areas of Division I Men's Basketball Championship administration, including television.

Before joining the basketball staff, Marchiony served as director of broadcast services. In that role, he was responsible for supervising NCAA Productions' telecasts of selected NCAA championships and for producing NCAA public service announcements and promotional messages.

Marchiony also served as director of communications, which primarily involved administration of NCAA media relations.

He joined the staff in 1984 as an assistant director of public relations. During his tenure with the NCAA, he has served as staff liaison to the NCAA Honors Committee and national and regional television networks. He also administered the NCAA Honors Dinner for several years.

Before joining the Association, Marchiony served four years as sports information director and another four years as regional director of development for Georgetown University.

Green

Green has served as Division I assistant chief of staff since September 1997. As Division I assistant chief of staff, Green worked with the Division I Board of Directors and Management Council. She also assisted the two Division I cabinets.

Green joined the NCAA staff in 1993 as administrator for the Committee on Infractions. She retained that role until she joined the Division I staff.

She earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University. She also has a law degree from Duke. While working on the law degree, she served as compliance coordinator for Duke and the Atlantic Coast Conference. She also worked for a Washington, D.C., law firm.
