Two director-level promotions are among championships staff moves

Wayne Burrow and John Williams have been promoted to director-level positions in the national office's championships group.

Burrow

Burrow joined the national office staff in 1991 as an assistant director of championships and subsequently was promoted to associate director. He most recently has served as staff liaison to the Division I Baseball, Division III Football, and Division I Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committees.

In addition to those responsibilities, Burrow also has served recently as staff liaison to the NCAA Baseball and Softball Umpire Improvement Programs and has been second ary liaison to the Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet.

Before joining the NCAA, Burrow was assistant athletics director for marketing and promotions at the College of William and Mary. He also was on the athletics staffs at the University of Texas at Austin and the U.S. Military Academy.

Burrow earned his undergraduate degree from William and Mary. He also has a master's degree in sports administration from Ohio University.

Burrow's new title will be director of projects and programs.

Williams

Williams has been a member of the NCAA staff since 1999, when he joined the education services staff as professional development coordinator.

Williams subsequently moved to the championships staff as an associate director of championships.

In that role, he has been responsible for the organization and management of the Divisions I, II and III Men's Lacrosse Championships and the Division II Men's Basketball Championship.

He also has had liaison responsibilities for the Division II Men's Basketball and Divisions I, II and III Men's Lacrosse Committees. Williams also serves as secondary liaison to the Division III Championships Committee.

In his role as professional development coordinator, Williams worked with the NCAA postgraduate scholarship program, the ethnic minority and women's enhancement scholarship program, the NCAA internship program, and coordinated the NCAA's diversity education program.

Before joining the Association, Williams was head men's basketball coach at Indiana University-Purdue University, Fort Wayne. Before that, he served as men's basketball coach and athletics director at the University of St. Francis (Indiana).

He also was assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and Ball State University.

Williams earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Ball State.

Other moves

In addition to the moves involving Burrow and Williams, the championships staff also announced that Tina Krah and Kerri Fagan have been promoted from assistant to associate directors of championships.

D'Ann Keller and Colleen Etheridge have joined the staff as assistant directors of championships.
