CORRECTION

A photo that accompanied a story in the September 24 NCAA News regarding licensing restrictions on wireless headsets in college football may have been misleading. The photo of a coach wearing a Porta Phone brand headset incorrectly implies that the Porta Phone wireless equipment requires Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approval, which it in fact does not. The Porta Phone Digicom wireless uses a digital format designed so that coaches would not have to obtain a license from the FCC for home or away games. The article correctly states that the FCC is entitled to assess fines to institutions who do not obtain a license for equipment that requires one. However, since the Porta Phone equipment does not require a license, coaches who use that equipment need not request one from the FCC.

James H. Brickley, former president at Eastern Michigan, died September 29. Brickley was 72.

George Ireland, former head men's basketball coach at Loyola (Illinois), died September 14. He was 88.
