Newly announced vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination materials for the following vacancies is April 13, 2001.

Honors Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee will replace Robert Steitz, Atlantic 10 Conference, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from Division I-AA.

Postgraduate Scholarship Committee: Two Division I vacancies. The appointees will replace Rosalia Scripa, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Teresa Kuehn, West Coast Conference, who are not eligible for reappointment. At least one appointee must be from Division I-AAA and at least one must be a female.

Research Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Mildred Griggs, University of Illinois, Champaign, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be a female faculty athletics representative and may be from Division I-A, I-AA or I-AAA.

Men's Water Polo Committee: One Division III vacancy. The appointee will replace Martin Zwiren, Lehman College, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be an athletics administrator from the East region.

Division I

Division I candidates must be nominated by their institution's multisport conference. The Division I nomination form and Division I nominee information form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Lori L. Braa, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 317/917-6808).

The deadline for submission of completed nomination materials for the following vacancies is April 13, 2001.

Committee on Athletics Certification: Three vacancies. The appointees will replace Paul Dee, University of Miami (Florida), James Walker, chancellor of the Southern Illinois University System, and Kathleen Hallock, Colonial Athletic Association, who are not eligible for reappointment. The appointees may be from Division I-A, I-AA or I-AAA, but only one of the three vacancies may be filled by a Division I-A representative.

Division I Initial-Eligibility Waivers Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Kim Hollins, Boston College, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee preferably will have expertise in international-student matters. The appointee may be from Division I-A, I-AA or I-AAA.

Division I Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Erica Renwick, St. Francis College (Pennsylvania), who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must represent women's interests.

Division III

Division III individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division III. A Division III nominee information form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Lori L. Braa, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 317/917-6808).

Division III Financial Aid and Awards Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Don Wharton, Plymouth State College, who has resigned from the committee. There are no restrictions for this appointment.

Division III Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Robert Malekoff, College of Wooster, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be a male.

Division III Men's Soccer Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Stephen Simmons, Linfield College, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the West region and may be a coach or an administrator.

Division III Women's Soccer Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Kevin Long, Randolph-Macon Women's College, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the South region and may be either a coach or an administrator.

Division III Men's Basketball Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Robert Coleman, Hunter College, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the Atlantic region and may be either an administrator or coach. The appointee may not be from the City University of New York Athletic Conference.

Division III Women's Basketball Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Steve Wallo, Lewis and Clark College, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the West region and may be either a coach or administrator. The appointee may not be from the Northwest Conference.

Division III Football Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Mike Clary, Rhodes College, and Porter Miller, Earlham College. One appointee must be from the North region and one must be from the South region. The appointees may not be from the Southern Collegiate or North Coast Conferences.

Division III Men's Golf Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Richard Kaiser, Defiance College, and David Pierce, Maryville University of St. Louis, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from District 4 and one from District 5. The appointees may not be from the Michigan Intercollegiate or St. Louis Intercollegiate Conferences.

Division III Women's Golf Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Michelle Morgan, Amherst College, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from Region 1 and may not be from the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Division III Men's Ice Hockey Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Scott Nichols, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be an athletics administrator from the East region. The appointee may not be from the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference.

Division III Women's Soccer Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace William Gehling, Tufts University, and Cathie Schweitzer, Springfield College, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the Metro region and one must be from the New England region. At least one appointee must be an athletics administrator and may not be from the New England Small College or New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conferences.

Division III Women's Softball Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Janet Lloyd, Chapman University, and Allan Remillard, Agnes Scott College, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the Atlantic region and one must be from the West region.

Division III Men's and Women's Tennis Committee: Three vacancies (one interim). One appointee must be from the Northeast region representing men's interests. Two appointees must represent women's interests. One must be from the Midwest region and one from the Northeast region. The appointees may not be from the New England Small College, Minnesota Intercollegiate or the Centennial Conferences.

Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee: Three vacancies (one interim). One appointee must be from each of the following regions: West, Mideast and New England. The appointees may not be from the New England Small College or the Centennial Conferences.

Division III Women's Volleyball Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Tim Cowie, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Lynn Hall, Hanover College, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the New York region and one from the Great Lakes region. The appointees may not be from the Empire Eight or Indiana Collegiate Conferences.

Division III Wrestling Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Roger Crebs, Lycoming College, and Donald Tencher, Rhode Island College, who are not eligible for reappointment. At least one appointee must be an athletics administrator from the East region. The appointees may not be from the Middle Atlantic or Little East Conferences.
