Newly announced vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination materials for the following vacancies is March 12, 2001.

Men's Water Polo Committee: One Division III vacancy. The appointee will replace Martin Zwiren, Lehman College, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be an athletics administrator from the East region.

Previously listed vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination materials for the following vacancies is February 23, 2001.

Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Letha Griffin, Georgia State University, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from Division I-AAA and be a female in the field of medicine.

Olympic Sports Liaison Committee: One Division II vacancy. The appointee will replace Frances Nee, Indiana University (Pennsylvania), who is not eligible for reappointment. There are no restrictions for this appointment.

Baseball Rules Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee will replace James Morris, University of Miami (Florida), who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from Division I-AAA and may be either a coach or an administrator.

Men's Basketball Rules Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee will replace Roy Williams, University of Kansas, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be a coach from Region 3 (Districts 4 and 5).

Men's and Women's Ice Hockey Rules Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee will replace Don Vaughan, Colgate University, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee, which may be from Divisions I-A, I-AA or I-AAA, will represent women's interests.

Men's Gymnastics Committee: Two Division I vacancies. The appointees will replace Archie Griffin, Ohio State University, and Larry Fariss, U.S. Air Force Academy, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the West region. All subdivisions are eligible.

Women's Gymnastics Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee will replace Carolyn Lewis, San Jose State University, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from Region 1 and be an athletics administrator. All subdivisions are eligible.

Men's Lacrosse Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee will replace Dominic Starsia, University of Virginia, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the South region. All subdivisions are eligible.

Women's Lacrosse Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee will replace Jane Miller, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the South region. All subdivisions are eligible.

Men's Volleyball Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee will replace Brian Quinn, Loyola Marymount University, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the West region. All subdivisions are eligible.

Wrestling Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee will replace Andy Noel, Cornell University, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the South or West region and must be from Division I-AA or I-AAA.

Men's and Women's Rifle Committee: One Division II vacancy. The appointee will replace Karen Jones, University of Alaska Fairbanks, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be an athletics administrator.

Division I

Division I candidates must be nominated by their institution's multisport conference. The Division I nomination form and Division I nominee information form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Lori L. Braa, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 317/917-6808).

Men's and Women's Fencing Committee: Two Division I vacancies. The appointees will replace Yves Auriol, University of Notre Dame, and Rob Lichten, Northwestern University. One appointee must represent women's interests and be from the Midwest region, and one appointee must represent men's interests and be from the Midwest region. There are no other restrictions for these appointments. All subdivisions are eligible.

Division I Field Hockey Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Colleen Lim, Yale University, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be an administrator from the Mideast region and must be from Divisions I-AA or I-AAA.

Division I Men's Golf Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Bob Livingstone, Long Beach State University, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the West region and preferably be a coach. All subdivisions are eligible.

Division I Men's Ice Hockey Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace William Wilkinson, Western Michigan University, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the West region. All subdivisions are eligible.

Division I Men's Soccer Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Barry Gorman, Pennsylvania State University, and Schellas Hyndman, Southern Methodist University, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the Middle Atlantic region and one from the Midwest region. Both appointees must be from Division I-A.

Division I Women's Softball Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Rebecca Endicott, Wichita State University, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee may be from the South, Midwest, West or Pacific regions, and must be from either Division I-AA or I-AAA.

Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee: Four vacancies. The appointees will replace Randall W. Spetman, U.S. Air Force Academy; Kevin McNamee, George Mason University; Karen Thornton, University of California, Berkeley; and Joseph Suriano, U.S. Naval Academy. Two appointees must represent men's interests, one appointee must represent women's interests and one must represent diving. At least one appointee must be a female. All subdivisions are eligible.

Division I Women's Volleyball Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Brenda Weare, Conference USA, and Linda Dollar, Southwest Missouri State University, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the Midwest region and one must be from the Central region. Both appointees must be from Division I-A.

Division II

Division II individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division II. A Division II nomination form and Division II nominee information form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Lori L. Division II Academic Requirements Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Wade Robinson, University of Nebraska, Omaha, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must represent the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.

Division II Championships Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace William Lide, North Carolina Central University, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee preferably will have NCAA committee experience.

Division II Legislation Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Robert Heiny, University of Northern Colorado, who is not eligible for reappointment. There are no restrictions for this appointment.

Division II Nominating Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Robertha Abney, Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and Ron Prettyman, California State University, Dominguez Hills, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee preferably will be from the West region.

Division II Baseball Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Deborah Chin, University of New Haven, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the Northeast region.

Division II Men's Basketball Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Don Landry, Sunshine State Conference, and John Wagnon, University of Central Oklahoma, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the South region and one must be from the South Central region.

Division II Women's Basketball Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Sandy Thomas, Indiana University (Pennsylvania), and Julia Southard, Texas Woman's University, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the South Central region and one must be from the East region.

Division II Field Hockey Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Sharon Taylor, Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be an athletics administrator from any region.

Division II Women's Golf Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Samuel Lesseig, Truman State University, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the Midwest region.

Division II Men's Soccer Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Daniel Audette, Millersville University of Pennsylvania, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the Northeast region.

Division II Women's Soccer Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Brian Purcell, Presbyterian College, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the Southeast region.

Division II Women's Volleyball Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Ginger Crissman-Ashley, Catawba College, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the South region.

Division II Wrestling Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Danny Lewis, Colorado Schools of Mines, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be an athletics administrator.

Division III

The appointee must be from the Atlantic region and may be either an administrator or coach. The appointee may not be from the City University of New York Athletic Conference.

Division III Women's Basketball Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Steve Wallo, Lewis and Clark College, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from the West region and may be either a coach or administrator. The appointee may not be from the Northwest Conference.

Division III Football Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Mike Clary, Rhodes College, and Porter Miller, Earlham College. One appointee must be from the North region and one must be from the South region. The appointees may not be from the Southern Collegiate or North Coast Conferences.

Division III Men's Golf Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Richard Kaiser, Defiance College, and David Pierce, Maryville University of St. Louis, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from District 4 and one from District 5. The appointees may not be from the Michigan Intercollegiate or St. Louis Intercollegiate Conferences.

Division III Women's Golf Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Michelle Morgan, Amherst College, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from Region 1 and may not be from the New England Small College Athletic Conference.

Division III Men's Ice Hockey Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Scott Nichols, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be an athletics administrator from the East region. The appointee may not be from the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference.

Division III Women's Soccer Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace William Gehling, Tufts University, and Cathie Schweitzer, Springfield College, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the Metro region and one must be from the New England region. At least one appointee must be an athletics administrator and may not be from the New England Small College or New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conferences.

Division III Women's Softball Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Janet Lloyd, Chapman University, and Allan Remillard, Agnes Scott College, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the Atlantic region and one must be from the West region.

Division III Men's and Women's Tennis Committee: Three vacancies (one interim). One appointee must be from the Northeast region representing men's interests. Two appointees must represent women's interests. One must be from the Midwest region and one from the Northeast region. The appointees may not be from the New England Small College, Minnesota Intercollegiate or the Centennial Conferences.

Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee: Three vacancies (one interim). One appointee must be from each of the following regions: West, Mideast and New England. The appointees may not be from the New England Small College or the Centennial Conferences.

Division III Women's Volleyball Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Tim Cowie, Rochester Institute of Technology, and Lynn Hall, Hanover College, who are not eligible for reappointment. One appointee must be from the New York region and one from the Great Lakes region. The appointees may not be from the Empire Eight or Indiana Collegiate Conferences.

Division III Wrestling Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Roger Crebs, Lycoming College, and Donald Tencher, Rhode Island College, who are not eligible for reappointment. At least one appointee must be an athletics administrator from the East region. The appointees may not be from the Middle Atlantic or Little East Conferences.
