What's your idea of fun if you're a 10-year-old Girl Scout in Boston? Why, it's the National Girls and Women in Sports Day celebration at Lasell College.

The 45 Girl Scouts came to the Lasell campus for an overnight stay that was packed with activities. They participated in five different sports clinics hosted by Lasell student-athletes and coaches, they slept in the gymnasium, ate in the cafeteria, saw a movie and met numerous female student-athletes from the college. They also took in the women's basketball game against Maine Maritime Academy and cheered the Lasers to a 60-58 win over their conference rival.

In the sports clinics, the youngsters tried their hands at softball, basketball, field hockey, soccer and lacrosse.

"For some of the girls, it was the first time they had had a lacrosse stick in their hands," said Lasell athletics director Kristy Walter. "The event is a great way to expose these young girls to sports and competition."
