The Southern New Hampshire University (formerly New Hampshire College) athletics department has unveiled a series of new logos, consisting of a primary mark, a secondary mark, two word marks and a sport-specific mark. The new marks were created by The Silverman Group, Inc., of New Haven, Connecticut, which has recently redesigned athletics logos for Saint Michael's College, the University of New Haven and Southern Connecticut State University. Athletics administrators at Southern New Hampshire thought the change was needed and coincided nicely with the name change from New Hampshire College to Southern New Hampshire University. "We managed to keep some of the characteristics of the old logo, yet give it a modern look that can be used more by all of our 15 varsity sports," said Southern New Hampshire Athletics Director Chip Polak. The primary logo features a classic revolutionary war character charging forward holding an American flag. The flagstaff is in the form of a pen, in reference to SNHU's nickname -- the Penmen.
