Milestones: Dean Bowyer, Minnesota State University-Mankato, 800 wins in baseball. Bowyer claimed the landmark victory April 3 with a 16-7 decision over Grand View College. Bowyer, the winningest coach in Minnesota State-Mankato history, is in his 29th season as a college coach and his 25th season with the Mavericks. After the victory, his career record stood at 800-407-7. Bowyer entered the season ranking 17th among active NCAA Division II coaches in winning percentage and is 10th in career wins among active coaches ... Sandy Jerstad, Augustana College (South Dakota), 900 wins in women's softball. The 900th victory came April 7 when the Vikings defeated the University of North Dakota, 10-2. Jerstad is closing in on second place on total softball wins in all NCAA divisions. That slot currently is held by Judi Garman with 913 wins. Garman coached at California State University, Fullerton, from 1980-1999 ... Bill Miller, Texas Lutheran University, 300 wins in baseball. Miller reached the milestone February 16 with a 10-0 win over Huston-Tillotson College. Miller, in his ninth season at Texas Lutheran, is the second coach to amass 300 victories at the institution. NAIA Hall of Famer Ray Katt retired with 502 wins in 1992. Miller succeeded Katt at Texas Lutheran in 1993 and has won at least 30 games in seven of his first eight years ... Wayne Riser, Shepherd College, 200 career wins in baseball.
