Milestones: Sandy Hoffman, women's volleyball coach at Bentley College, recorded her 500th victory October 30 with a 3-1 win over American International College. Hoffman, the second active New England women's volleyball coach to reach the 500-victory plateau, had a record of 500-221 after the landmark win. She took over the one-year-old Bentley program when she arrived there in 1982 and since then has led the Falcons to eight Northeast-10 Conference regular- season titles and three NCAA Division II tournament berths ... Margaret "C.J." Sherman, women's volleyball coach at the University of Montevallo, recently earned career victory No. 300 with a November 3 win over Lincoln Memorial University. Sherman is now 300-149 in 12-plus seasons as a college head coach. Sherman is 70-39 in her third season at Montevallo.

Miscellaneous: Ashland University senior forward Kristy Ritchie scored four goals and added an assist October 19 as she reached the 100-goal plateau for her career in a 7-1 victory over Northern Michigan University. Ritchie is just the 15th woman in NCAA history, all divisions included, to score 100 goals and is the third Division II player to reach the 100-goal plateau. For the year, Ritchie has 26 goals and 11 assists. The senior is a three-time all-American ... Dowling College recently unveiled its new athletics logo. The logo, in the school colors of blue and gold, features a lion's head and bold, embossed lettering with the name of the college and the nickname "Golden Lions" underneath. A lion's paw print appears in the letter "o" in the words "Dowling" and "College." Designed by Michelle Fountain and Cathy Mongiello, the new logo will appear on athletics-related materials, including publications, uniforms, banners and awards. "Dowling has long maintained a sense of pride in athletics and the lion represents the program's determination, courage and strength," said Director of Athletics Robert Dranoff.
