Division II launches degree program

Division II has established a Degree-Completion Scholarship Program to provide deserving Division II student-athletes who have exhausted their collegiate eligibility with financial assistance to complete their undergraduate degrees.

This year, $100,000 will be allocated in scholarship awards for the spring and summer semesters (or quarters) of 2002. Student-athletes interested in applying should submit materials by the October 1, 2001, postmark deadline.

Application forms for the scholarships have been sent to Division II athletics directors, senior woman administrators and faculty athletics representatives.

Student-athletes who meet the following minimum requirements may apply for this award:

Student-athletes must have exhausted eligibility at a Division II member institution within the past calendar year.

Applicants shall have received athletically related financial aid from a Division II member institution.

Applicants shall be within 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of completion of an undergraduate degree.

Applicants shall have at least a 2.000 cumulative grade-point average (4.000 scale).
