The NCAA News

Milestones: Syracuse University field hockey coach Kathleen Parker notched her 250th career victory October 13, when her Orangewomen defeated Villanova University, 5-4, in overtime at Villanova. Parker, who just completed her 23rd season at the helm, has compiled a 251-161-14 record. She ranks fifth in total wins among active Division I field hockey coaches.

Miscellaneous: The Southern Conference, one of five collegiate conferences under the marketing umbrella of Host Communications, announced the addition of two new corporate partners, Pepsi Cola and BI-LO, LLC. The conference also extended an existing relationship with Mountain Dew, a brand of Pepsi Cola and title sponsor of the league's basketball championships. As the "official beverage company" and corporate partner of the conference, Pepsi Cola will receive exclusive category rights, promotional marketing opportunities and rights to the Southern Conference name and logo for three years. BI-LO was named as the "official grocer" of the conference in a separate three-year agreement ... Bucknell University football coach Tom Gadd underwent successful surgery recently to remove a small tumor from the surface of his brain. Gadd's condition was discovered after he experienced an episode of dizziness while vacationing in South Carolina over the holiday break. "I am confident that I have received the best care available," Gadd said afterward. "I'm looking forward to returning to the office to continue directing our recruiting efforts for the upcoming season." Gadd, 53, completed his sixth season at Bucknell this past fall by leading the Bison program to its sixth straight winning campaign. With 42 wins in that period, Gadd has recorded more victories in a six-year span than any gridiron coach in Bucknell history.
