2001 Telephone Conference No. 15
September 26, 2001

Acting for the Division I Management Council, the Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet Subcommittee on Legislative Review/Interpretations issued the following interpretation:

Recruiting/Football/ Permissible Callers

Institutional Noncoaching Football Staff Members Making Telephone Calls to Prospects/Prospects' Coaches. The subcommittee reviewed the provisions of Bylaw 11.7.2.3 and confirmed that there is no authority under the current legislation to permit staff members who are not included in the football coaching limitations (for example, director of high-school operations, director of football operations, administrative assistant) to make telephone calls to prospects (prospects' parents or legal guardians) or prospects' coaches under any circumstances.
