Wes Kittley has had incredible success in bringing home NCAA crowns. He started coaching the women's track and field team at Abilene Christian University in 1983, and the Wildcats took home their first title in 1985. Between the women's team and the men's team, which he began coaching in 1993, Kittley has a combined 12 Division II outdoor national championships and 17 indoor titles.

Named the Lone Star Conference coach of the year 18 times, Kittley also has been selected as Division II track and field coach of the year. He has coached 12 Olympic qualifiers, three Pan American Games athletes, five World University Games athletes, 74 individual national champions (women and men, Divisions I and II) and 16 athletes who have qualified for the world championships.

In 1999, his teams at Abilene Christian won all four NCAA Division II national track championships (women's and men's, indoor and outdoor). That was a repeat of the 1996 championship season, in which the Wildcats first won all four.

In 2000, Kittley took his talents to Division I Texas Tech University, where he continues to coach both the women's and men's track teams
