Indoor track coaches select academic honor roll for 2001

The United States Track Coaches Association has announced the teams and individuals that have earned its all-academic honors for indoor track and field for 2001.

To qualify, individuals must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.250 (4.000 scale) and have participated in their NCAA division outdoor track and field championships.

Teams are eligible for the honor if its members have a minimum 3.100 cumulative grade-point average as a group.

Among the 114 recipients are seven student-athletes who won NCAA individual titles in their respective indoor championships: Katie Brees, Central College (Iowa), Division III women's long jump; Maggie Hanson, Hamilton College, Division III women's 5,000-meter run; Aubrey Herring, Indiana State University, Division I men's 60-meter high hurdles; Leah Juno, University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, Division III women's 800-meter run; Sara Nauman, Loras College, Division III women's shot put; Brad Parris, McMurry University, Division III men's pole vault; and Laura Rosenberger, Eastern Mennonite University, Division III women's pole vault.

In addition, eight all-academic honorees were members of victorious relay teams in the NCAA championships: Ann Marie Brooks, Sunny Gilbert and Ashley Wysong from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Division I women's distance medley relay; Jacob Nimrod and Stacy Sundet from Luther College, Division III men's distance medley relay; and Johanna Olson, Jenarah Tekippe and Siri Thompson, also from Luther, Division III women's distance medley relay.
