Newly announced vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination materials for the following vacancy is October 11, 2000.

Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Betsy Reed, formerly of Saint Mary's College (California), who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from Division I-AAA.

Previously listed vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination materials for the following vacancy is September 25, 2000.

Committee on Women's Athletics: One Division II vacancy. The appointee will replace Jacqueline McWilliams, formerly of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, who has moved to Division I. There are no restrictions for the appointment.

Division I

Division I candidates must be nominated by their institution's multisport conference. The Division I nomination form and Division I nominee information form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Lori L. Braa, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 317/917-6808).

Division I Men's Basketball Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace Les Robinson, formerly of North Carolina State University, and Gene Smith, formerly of Iowa State University, who have resigned from the committee. One appointee must be from Division I-A and one must be from Division I-AA or I-AAA. At least one appointee must be from the South region, and neither appointee may be from the East or Midwest regions.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination materials for the following vacancy is September 25, 2000.

Committee on Athletics Certification: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Alan Chaves, Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from either Division I-AA or I-AAA.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination materials for the following vacancy is September 29, 2000.

Division I Men's and Women's Tennis Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Teresa Kuehn, West Coast Conference, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must represent women's tennis interests and be from the West region. The appointee must be from Divisions I-AA or I-AAA.

Division II

Division II individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division II. A Division II nomination form and Division II nominee information form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Lori L. Braa, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 317/917-6808).

Division II Football Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Bryce Casto, West Virginia State College, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the Northeast region.

Division II Legislation Committee: The appointee will replace Michael Kovalchik, Hillsdale College, who has been selected to serve on the Division II Management Council. There are no legislative requirements for this appointment.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination materials for the following vacancy is October 2, 2000.

Division II Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Tony Capon, University of Pittsburgh, Johnstown, who has been selected to the Division II Management Council.

Division III

Division III individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division III. A Division III nominee information form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Lori L. Braa, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 317/917-6808).

Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee: Nine vacancies. The appointees will replace those committee members not eligible for reappointment. All regions are available for appointment.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination materials for the following vacancy is September 29, 2000.

Division III Softball Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Thomas Cole, Elmhurst College, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the Great Lakes region.

2001 vacancies in next issue

Divisions I, II and III committee vacancies with terms beginning September 2001 will be announced in the October 9 issue of The NCAA News.

All interested individuals are encouraged to review that listing carefully to determine eligibility. The deadline for submission of all nominations will be November 17, 2000.
