Field: On May 7, two teams will be selected for the championship game, one from the Northeast region, one from the Southwest.

Date and site: The championship game will be May 28 at Maryland's Ludwig Field.

Information/results: The fax-on-demand number is 770/563-1133 (pin code 1915). The request number is 5128. Results also will be published in the June 5 issue of The NCAA News.

Championship notes: Adelphi and C.W. Post have met for the last three of four title games with fellow Long Island school New York Tech nudging out C.W. Post for the bid in 1997. Only one of those teams will make the title game this year since an automatic bid will go to a team from the Southwest, which will result in a debut for one of 11 teams. Limestone, ranked fourth nationally through eight games by STX/USILA, was the only team from the region ranked in the national top 10. Pfeiffer was the only other team from the region to get votes for the top 10. C.W. Post, New York Tech and two-time defending champion Adelphi held the top three spots. An Adelphi championship would make the Panthers the first Division II team to win three consecutive titles.
