Sports sponsorship: The University of Findlay has announced that the institution will add equestrian as a varsity sport for the 2000-01 academic year. Findlay has sponsored equestrian as an intercollegiate sport for a number of years and has competed successfully in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. With the addition of equestrian, the Oilers will have 25 intercollegiate varsity sports. "Equestrian will add another dimension to the athletics department at the University of Findlay," athletics director Steven Rackley said. "The University of Findlay has a very strong program in the equine area and this will only add to that."

Miscellaneous: Pitcher Kris Sutton of the University of Tampa set a Division II record for appearances in a season when he pitched three innings of shutout relief against Saint Leo April 30. It was the 36th appearance of the year for the junior righthander.
