The Division II Women's Volleyball Committee met February 15-18 in South Lake Tahoe, California, to discuss improvements and recommendations for the 2000 championship.

In a review of the selection criteria for championship participants, the committee will recommend to the Division II Championships Committee that the criteria be adjusted to include head-to-head competition as the lead secondary selection factor in addition to being a primary selection factor. Head-to-head competition would therefore take precedence over late-season performance, the previous top secondary factor.

The committee also will recommend that the championship return to a campus site for 2000. The committee decided that an on-campus location would enhance the championship atmosphere and increase attendance figures. While the championship site would not be predetermined, the host institution would have to guarantee a minimum of $5,000 in receipts.

In other actions, the committee:

* Emphasized its philosophy of a "top regionally evaluated team" as one that "consistently wins while playing a difficult regional schedule."

* Decided to designate light and dark uniforms for championship play. The home team will wear a light uniform and the away team will wear a dark uniform.

* Decided the top team in the bracket or the host team will be designated the home team.
