Championships notes: The Georgia Bulldogs clawed their way to last year's title on an unforgiving Hazeltine National Golf Course. Gusting winds and rain challenged every golfer's skill, but the Bulldogs won with a team total of 1,180. Now a different team from the same state, Georgia Tech, holds the top ranking going into the championships. Northwestern, last year's third-place team, is ranked second. Georgia is in the No. 6 spot. Northwestern's Luke Donald won the 1999 individual title with a score of 284 and is currently ranked second behind Georgia Tech's Matt Kuchar.
