The NCAA News

The NCAA has announced a list of sanctioned summer baseball leagues for 2000.

Only summer baseball leagues sanctioned by the NCAA may receive funding from Major League Baseball. Summer leagues are sanctioned in accordance with the requirements set forth in NCAA Bylaw 30.14 and are certified on an annual basis by the NCAA and Major League Baseball. Student-athletes from NCAA member institutions may participate in nonsanctioned leagues provided those leagues do not receive any funding or similar financial assistance from Major League Baseball.

In accordance with NCAA Bylaw 30.14.4, in order to participate in any summer baseball league, a student-athlete must receive written permission from the institution's director of athletics (or the director's official representative).
