Notes

Facilities: The Western Illinois University Foundation has received a $1 million gift to expand the university's nine-hole golf course to an 18-hole facility. The course will be named in honor of long-time Western Illinois golf coach Harry Mussatto. The donor, Eric J. Gleacher, attended Western Illinois in 1958-59 and was a member of the Mussatto 's four-man team that won the 1959 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics golf championship.

Conferences: The Western Athletic Conference announced that Boise State University and Louisiana Tech University will join the league, effective July 1, 2001. The expansion will increase the current eight-team conference to 10 members, including California State University, Fresno; the University of Hawaii, Manoa; Rice University; San Jose State University; Southern Methodist University; the University of Tulsa; and the University of Texas at El Paso. The conference announced earlier that the University of Nevada would become a member as of July 1, 2000. Commissioner Karl Benson said the expansion allows the conference to maintain geographical balance and at the same time promote regional rivalries. "It also was important for us to strengthen both the eastern and western sides of the conference," Benson said.

Milestones: Char Morett, head field hockey coach at Pennsylvania State University, notched her 250th career victory with a 6-1 win over Northwestern University. Morett is 250-82-16 in 16 seasons overall, and 213-66-8 in 13 seasons at Penn State ... Marilyn Nolen, Saint Louis University, 750 wins in women's volleyball. Nolen, in her 28th season (six at Saint Louis), is 751-288-12.
