Newly announced vacancies

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancies is December 6, 1999.

Committee on Competitive Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sports: One vacancy. The appointee must have expertise in the area of drug education.

Memorial Resolutions Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Judith L. Ray, University of New Hampshire, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from Division I-AAA.

Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Carol Hightower-Parker, Texas Southern University, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from Division I-AA.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is November 24, 1999.

Men's and Women's Fencing Committee: Two vacancies. The appointees will replace William Shipman and Zoran Tulum, not eligible for reappointment. Both appointees must represent men's fencing. One appointee must be from the West region and one from the Northeast region. All divisions and subdivisions are eligible.

Division I

Division I candidates must be nominated by their institution's multisport conference. The Division I nomination form and Division I nominee information form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Lori L. Braa, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 317/917-6808).

Division I Field Hockey Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Marilyn McNeil, Monmouth University, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must represent the Mid-Atlantic region and must be from either Division I-AA or Division I-AAA.

Division I Women's Softball Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Linda Herman, Illinois State University, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from either Division I-AA or Division I-AAA, and preferably be from the West, Midwest or Northeast regions.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancies is November 19, 1999.

Women's Lacrosse Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee will replace Diane Aikens, Loyola College (Maryland), who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be from Division I-AA or Division I-AAA and preferably be from the Northeast region.

Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee may be from any subdivision and may not be from the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Division I Initial-Eligibility Waivers Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Robert H. Aronson, University of Washington, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee will represent the transfer change/GPA subcommittee and may be from any subdivision. The appointee may not be from the Pacific-10 Conference.

Walter Byers Scholarship Committee: One interim Division I vacancy. The appointee will replace Judy Rose, University of North Carolina, Charlotte, who has resigned from the committee.

The deadline for submission of completed nomination forms for the following vacancy is November 16, 1999.

Division I Men's Gymnastics Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Greg Buwick, University of Oklahoma, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the West region.

Men's Lacrosse Committee: The appointee will replace David Roach, Brown University, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from Division I.

Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee: One Division I vacancy. The appointee must represent men's swimming interests.

Division II

Division II individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division II. A Division II nomination form and Division II nominee information form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Lori L. Braa, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 317/917-6808).

Division II Membership Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Mary T. Gardner, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from region 1.

Women's Basketball Rules Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Megan Henry, University of West Florida, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from region 2 and must be an athletics administrator.

Division II Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace Pete Oliszczak, formerly of the University of North Dakota, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must represent men's swimming and be an athletics administrator.

Women's Rowing Committee: One Division II vacancy. The appointee will replace William Jurgens, Florida Institute of Technology, who is not eligible for reappointment.

Division III

Division III individuals may be nominated by peers. Self nominations also are accepted in Division III. A Division III nomination form must be completed for each nominee. Nomination materials are to be sent to Lori L. Braa, committee coordinator, at the national office (fax 317/917-6808).

Division III Baseball Committee: One interim vacancy. The appointee will replace James Unke, Martin Luther College, who has resigned from the committee. The appointee must be from the Midwest region and may be either a coach or an administrator.

Division III Budget Committee: One vacancy. The appointee will replace Judith Sweet, University of California, San Diego, who is not eligible for reappointment. The appointee must be an athletics administrator from region 4.

Division III Interpretations and Legislation Committee: One student-athlete vacancy. The student-athlete preferably will be from region 2.

Corrections

The following are corrections to the chart of committee vacancies for September 2000 that appeared in the Committee Notices section of the October 11 NCAA News:

Additions: Men's Lacrosse Committee: Division I, Joseph Boylan, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, not eligible for reappointment; Division III, Raymond Rostan, Old Dominion Conference, not eligible for reappointment. Description of vacancies: Division I -- Any subdivision. The appointee must be from the Southeast region and be an athletics administrator; Division III -- The appointee may be from any region.

Men's and Women's Skiing Committee: One additional vacancy to replace Janice Lange, America East Conference, who is resigning from the committee at the end of the school year. The appointee may be from any subdivision and preferably have experience in the area of alpine skiing.

Deletions: The Division II Men's Ice Hockey Committee should be deleted.

Miscellaneous: Reggie Minton, U.S. Air Force Academy, was spelled incorrectly in the listings for the Men's Basketball Rules Committee.
