Division III Women's Cross Country

Field: The field increases by 31 competitors this year from 184 to 215. Twenty-four teams (up from 21) of seven individuals (with at least one team from each of eight regions) plus 47 individuals (at least four from each region and 10 more than 1998) will make up the field.

Dates and sites: Regional qualifying at eight sites will be November 13. The championships will be November 20 at Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Championships notes: After placing second three times, Calvin claimed its first title in 1998. The Knights return Lisa Timmer and Amy Mizzone, their top two finishers in last year's championships in 10th and 12th place, respectively. Calvin received all eight first-place votes in the latest Division III Cross Country Coaches Association poll after winning the Midwest Collegiate meet at Wisconsin-Parkside. Also in the field were third-ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse, fifth-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh and the host school, ranked eighth in Division II ... Institutions in New Jersey are moving from the Mideast region and combining with those in New York to form the Atlantic region. Previously, New York was its own region for qualifying purposes.
