Field: Forty teams will be selected at large May 9.

Dates and sites: Regional competition will be conducted May 19-23 at on-campus sites. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference will host the May 28-June 1 finals, which are set for Salem Baseball Stadium in Salem, Virginia.

Championship notes: Eastern Connecticut State won its third championship in 1998, defeating Montclair State, 16-1, in the title game ... Wisconsin-Oshkosh has started the season with a 17-0 record as of April 21 and is pushing for its third NCAA title. Carthage, sporting a 29-1-1 mark, looks for its first title. Chapman, North Carolina Wesleyan and William Patterson also are top teams that have hovered near the top of the polls this season. The championship will be held in Salem, Virginia, for the fifth consecutive year.
