Division II Women's Outdoor Track and Field

Field: The Division II Championships Committee has approved a qualifying procedure that allows for a maximum of 236 student-athletes.

Dates and site: May 27-29 at Emporia State.

Championships notes: Abilene Christian made it eight titles in the 17-year history of the championships with a 42-point win over runner-up St. Augustine's in 1998. The Wildcats have finished sixth or better in every championship since 1984 ... The pole vault will be contested in the championships for the first time ... Student-athletes from Cal Poly, which won six of the first 10 titles from 1982-91 and now competes in Division I, still hold meet records in four events ... Abilene Christian's Tracey Barnes became the first Division II competitor and only the second in NCAA women's outdoor track history to win both the 200- and 400-meter dashes in the same year when she swept the events in 1998.
