Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field

Field: The Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet has approved a qualifying procedure that allows for a maximum of 388 student-athletes.

Dates and site: June 2-5 at Boise State.

Results will be published in the June 21 issue of The NCAA News.

Championships notes: Texas rallied for 50 points on the final day of the 1998 championships to claim its second title. The Longhorns' first crown was in 1986, and LSU won the next 11 in a row ... LSU's 11 championships places the Tigers second on the list of most titles by a Division I women's team in one sport, behind only the 14 garnered by North Carolina's soccer team ... South Carolina competitors have won the hammer throw in each of the first three years the event has been contested ... The championships records in all three dashes (100, 200 and 400 meters) have stood since 1989.
