Cross country coaches select 1998 all-academic teams

The Division II Cross Coun-

try Coaches Association has announced its all-academic selections for the 1998 season.

Three student-athletes were honored for maintaining perfect 4.000 cumulative grade-point averages, including Robby Lane of Northwest Missouri State, a geography major; and Jennifer McQuitty of Adams State and Karen Smidt of Northern Colorado, both majoring in education. All three qualified for the 1998 Division II national championships.

Gannon posted the highest cumulative grade-point average among men's teams with a 3.800 mark, and Central Arkansas was tops on the women's side at 3.910.

To earn selection, individuals must have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.250 and have placed in the top 30 percent of their NCAA regional. The minimum grade-point average requirement for team selection is 3.000.
