The NCAA News -- April 26, 1999

Notes

Conferences: The Gulf South Conference has added two new members, Harding University and Ouachita Baptist University. "The addition of Ouachita Baptist University and Harding University renews traditional rivalries with many of our members -- especially in Arkansas -- and adds teams in some sports in which we need them, such as men's and women's soccer and men's tennis," said Nathan Salant, commissioner of the Gulf South. The addition of the two institutions makes the Gulf South the largest Division II conference with 18 members. Salant said he expects the new members will be fully integrated into the conference by the 2000-01 season, with the exception of football, which might take one year longer.

Milestones: Gary Grob, Winona State University, 900 wins in baseball ... Bill Massoels, St. Joseph's College (Indiana), 200 victories in women's track and field.
